My son has finished his application and recently went for an overnight visit at USMA. He got an invitation today to attend an admissions informational dinner about 2 hours from where we live. Should we attend? Is it worthwhile to try to make the event just to have him in front of more people connected with WP? Thanks for the advice.

I absolutely would. 2 hours isn’t that far.

Unless you have something substantially better to do, I would find value in attending.

Wow.. there is all kind of dinners being offered by USMA..lucky you all [emoji6][emoji6]

Going to one of these events does not increase or decrease his chances of getting into WP. It is an information meeting. It is an opportunity to learn more about WP and to ask questions. An overnight does not necessarily answer all the questions you and your son may have about the admissions process or about WP. One advantage would be to meet the RC, if the RC is hosting this event.

Yes. It is being hosted by the RC.

Definitely attend. Any opportunity to meet with your RC is valuable. They can answer any questions you may have, and give advice on your specific application and the appointment process. Even if the application is already completed, there are still things that can be added ie: team captain, improved ACT etc...to improve your competitiveness. The RC won’t tell you, but knows where you stack up against your local competition, so take their advice seriously and execute any/all directives!
The face to name recognition is always extremely important as well imo.

Seldom mentioned, demonstrated interest is most definitely a factor in admissions. If you have the means to go, I would!
