I recently received an LOE from West Point. I know there are other threads on this, but just wondering
a) have a lot of people already gotten these or is it relatively early?
b) what is the success rate for earning an appointment for candidates with an LOE?

My DS received an LOE today. It is a very nice step---but we are cautiously excited until a nomination is in hand and then hopefully an official appointment is received! :) And to answer your second question---I believe an LOA is much closer to an appointment than an LOE. Moderator...is that correct?
 
Yes that is correct. LOE only says complete your application and implies they think you're competitive. It says nothing about beating your competition.
