looking for a good watch

When I sailed, I stopped wearing a watch. Onboard, there are clocks in every space. At home, well, I just didn't care what time it was. I didn't start wearing a watch again until I came ashore, ant it was a 13 buck Casio from Walmart. Now? Uh, a Fitbit. . . . . go figure. .

I would like to buy my son a good watch to have when he leaves. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as brand and/or styles.

Purchased a few watches for my son and he destroyed them. Plastic wristbands don't last long, had to get one with a stainless band.

So far the only one that has held up to sea time, airborne school, and USMMA life has been G-Shock atomic/solar steel watch.
