Loss of a Brigade mate

Just read this article as well, same story that my mid told me last night. So sad, prayers to his family and friends.

Heartbreakingly beautiful article:

Tough article to read. I didn’t know David Forney, but as the dad of a recent 2024 appointee - he sounds like the exact type of young man my wife and I hope surround DS as he joins the brigade. I can only imagine the heartbreak for the family and on the yard.

This has struck a chord with me. My son is a lineman and will probably be attending NAPS has he has been accepted to USCGAS. I know how tight football teammates become so this must be hitting that oline very hard. My heart aches for his parents. No parent should outlive their child. God bless!

Woke up to hopes it was a rumor, but now confirmed. Keep these friends, family and brigade mates in your prayers. This is so soon. So hard. Such sadness. RIP
Yeah I was doing my candidate visit there when it happened. Rumor was on Thursday night that a football player, 2 decks above where I was, was getting CPR. We woke up on Friday to fine morning workouts canceled and that breakfast was mandatory because of an address to the bridegroom from the commandant. It was quite an experience being with the brigade during the whole thing.
