Lot's of questions...

RE SOEs:
Let's look at it this way.
The SSK on your portal will have a SOE box.
In that box will be 3 entries - one for each SOE you need.
The SOE box in question will say:
Enter information for your Physics/Chemistry official
You will click on that link and it will take you to a form that you fill out with the contact info for that teacher.

It does not give you any other options.
There are no other choices.
Just Physics or Chemistry.
That's it.

There will be many times at West Point and throughout your career that you will be given instructions or orders that you don't like or agree with. You comply anyway.
You may not like or agree with the options that West Point gives you for this SOE but you don't have a choice and you need to comply anyway.

IF you feel very strongly that another science teacher will give a much more accurate picture of yourself, you are welcome to invite that teacher to send a separate recommendation to the RC. This will not take the place of the official SOE and may not have much bearing on your file but it is certainly an option for you to do.

Perfectly said, buff81. (Makes me think of my cadet being ordered to give blood----not thrilled about it, but he did it anyway.)

I've been looking at the sports at West Point and I looked at their cross country team. I was varsity on cross country earlier this year and my time was around 18:00 for a 5k. By next year I will be most likely running in the early 17:00s. Checking out their times, many of them are in the 17:00s if not 18:00s. Would having good times senior year increase my chances of getting recruited sports wise if and only if my times were better than most of the people on the team?

Perhaps these candidates are learning already that if they don't like the answer they get they could keep on asking until they get the answer they like.

I just couldn't resist. Perhaps we are just old and we conform too easily . . .
