March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

I had not read those as I just saw that as my scholarship status only a little bit ago, but thank you for helping me out! Im just glad to hear it doesn't mean anything negative.

Also, does anyone have any idea when they will be releasing the results from the last board?

Sometime this decade.

Sorry it just seems like that's how long some have been waiting.

Nobody really knows for sure but there have been many guesses....even some friendly wagers.

The general hope is that it is this or next week sometime, only time will tell. It's been a very strange year regarding scholarships.

I just spoke with the Professor of Military Science at Penn State and he said not to quote him, but he thinks that the online results may be released by this Friday:smile:

That, of course, is not a definite answer but at least it gives all of us some kind of time frame!

Haha - well Friday is the date I guessed. If I'd had known I would be right, I would've guessed LAST Friday!!:shake:

Has anyone who opened files at SAs but did not go through with DODMERB receive anything from DODMERB in the mail regarding scheduling tests in the past few days? I got my packet last June in the mail because I had opened files at USAFA and USMA (Went as far as getting a congressional nomination to USAFA and then realize the Air Force wasn't for me). Am I supposed to get a letter soon? The only contact I got through DODMERB was the addition of US ARMY ROTC as an agency on my DODMERB file. I have yet to find the time to go to my physician. Is this basically the same as them contacting me to get a physical done for the purpose of Army ROTC? It wouldn't make sense to send another packet out, right?

Sorry, no one answered.

ROTC2015, relax buddy. The fact that you have not received a letter from DODMERB chasing you down and reminding to get your exams done is not in any way a negative indicator. You need to remember that this is a very busy time for those folks. This year has probably been one of the most irregular in terms of scholarship allocations (considering we almost had a government shutdown.)

Now back to that letter, just get your crap done. That's the only thing you can do at this point. It's not like phoning DODMERB and asking them to send you a reminder letter would help or make any sense for that matter.

Furthermore, I am relatively sure that DODMERB will only contact you after your medical status has changed. Since I began the process, I have only received 3 letters ever from DODMERB and or Concorde: 1)telling me to open my file; 2) letting me know I was qualified for USMA; 3) letting me know I was qualified for AROTC. Bottom line is, they won't bother sending you chaser letters.

Go and get your sh*t done McSol. :thumb:

I think tomorrow morning would certainly be an EXCELLENT time to release the March 8, 2011 board results!!!! :thumb:

Friday would work for me! Today is going to be beautiful outside here in Ohioland, too pretty to be inside doing the refresh/forum all day, well, that and I get to go play lotion lady at work today. So tomorrow would be great - rainy and off work. Can hang out ALLLLL day:wink: Never know what CC will or won't do unti they actually do it, but one of these days will really be THE day:biggrin:

Waiting Gauntlet

He thought about bringing home a squad with the AED unit just in case....otherwise he's on duty in our community ALL weekend too.

Although it will be great to know the awards are finally on the way I'm thinking it's just the start of another long waiting process.

PIMA's exactly right, the system is work and wait, work and wait. Many awardees probably won't have the school of first choice and will need a transfer which Marist says is more difficult than winning American Idol! So more waiting for an approval and those with no awards may want to compete for campus based awards should any exist - Much more waiting involved.

Our DS's ROO(AT HIS #1 SCHOOL) has already contacted him and notified him that they had their boards for Campus based scholarships last week. Our assumption is that they will not release those results until the results of the March 8th board have been released.....

That is great news for your DS. The campus based is by brigade and school so I guess they each have a different process for awarding those, but good to hear at least one school has some funding in the pipeline.:thumb:

Yep, just because they post results doesn't always mean its good news or the right news. The transfer issues will haunt many nights for a lot of our DS/DD. As Marist posted, more expensive school or out of brigade probably won't happen, or at least he's never handled one that came thru. Our kiddos better get used to the hurry, wait, unknown in the military, it will be there for their entire careers. But yes, campus based funds almost would be better at this point in some ways. SMP is still figuring heavily in our planning.

I'm sitting in government class checking up on my forum family  ... Hopefully the day is near!
