March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

Congratulations to all recipients! Here's to hoping for the rest still waiting that news posts over the weekend and quickly! Our DS got his update today and was unable to contact the ROO at his number 1 school so I guess we wait until Monday to find out if that's where the scholarship is for.

Oh yeah, sorry... my son is University of Kentucky. 4 year award.

So are we Monkey! Does your son need a roomate for the dorm? Once we both get meds done, maybe our sons could talk and see if it would work for them both?

We are Mo, received a DodMERB packet last Fridy and still no status change but see that some other M's have gotten a "yes". At this point, hoping it's not alphabetical order.

Just got home to find that DS received an AROTC scholarship! Just about wet my pants.

We're in TX, last name Cr...and he was before the 2nd and 3rd boards.

We haven't heard from any of the schools, though. We have no idea which school. Is that unusual to not be contacted and given the news?

Congrats to everybody who's gotten the good news, and best wishes to everybody waiting!

The ROO's are officially not allowed to contact anyone until the official letters are sent out.

Now, that being said, some ROO's have made contact before that time. You could contact them and see if they will tell you anything.

Make sure to have them double check the offer to see if it is a 3 year or 4 year. There have been a couple people told they had received a 4 year only to hear later it was a mistake and it is a 3 year. 3 year scholarships have been mentioned by other ROO's as the possible norm for this board.

Congratulations by the way.

don't give up hope yet. I think the highest reported was Me and I haven't heard of any N's. Good Luck and keep us posted!

I spoke with our ROO on Tuesday. He said we should know for certain soon and that he most likely would know by Friday. He also said that he couldn't call us but we could call him. Unfortunately he said he would be out of town on Friday. I told him "that's ok, we can wait till Monday". Not so sure now!

Letting it out must have been good luck! My DS status just changed. Our name is Ja.

Congratulations to your son.

Try not to have to big of a grin on your face when you talk to the ROO.

I was really suprised by his comment that you had applied to late and that there was no chance.

Sounds like a "HaHa Neener Neener" moment to me.

Monday will get here...slowly, possibly the longest weekend ahead EVER.

My gut feeling is that they are NOT going alphabetically. I think if you received that DoDMerb packet this past week then you all should be receiving some good news in the near future.

Just my opinion. Keeping fingers crossed for all of you. Prayers included.:thumb:

I sure hope this is the case. With receiving the DodMERB packet this week, I hate to think DS is going for his exams on Mon & Tues for nothing.

Keeping the faith and saying my prayers!!

Did the ROO from Kentucky confirm the scholarship there and confirm it is a 4 year. I only ask because a couple people heard they had a 4 year only to be notified soon after that they were mistaken and it was a 3 year.

If it is truely a 4 year that's great news, it means that they are still awarding some 4 year instead of just 3 year as was expected.

Again Congratulations

What letters start your last name?

We are Gr

Keep checking the status page. Looks like they are done for tonight, weekends have happened in previous boards, but I'm not sure their budget will include overtime for this group to work this weekend posting. Until Clarkson says the awards are done, anything at anytime could happen.

Packet vs letter

Congratulations to everyone! Very very exciting for all those that have received theirs. We are still hoping..waiting...not the easiest thing to do. BUT knowing full well that plan B is a very solid one for him.
I've been reading of people saying they received their 'packets' last Monday. My son received his 'letter' last Monday from DODMERB that he's been qualified. Has anyone received a scholarship that received a 'letter'? Sorry if it's already been posted.

Hey there im new here but have been following along for a while. One thing I noticed was a lot of people got dodmerb packets this week. I didnt, so does this mean that things arent looking as good? The thing is, i was dodmerb qualified for West Point last fall, so hopefully this could mean they wouldnt bother sending one? Any one have any ideas? Thanks
