Hello. I am a good student in a competitive HS with a 3.8 GPA and am ranked in the top 10%. However, my math scores are a bit low at a 520 math SAT and a 25 math ACT. What is the equivalent of ACT math conversion to a 25 math to an SAT?
Despite this, I recieve marks of 90% and up in an honors math curriculum. I plan on taking the SAT again and recieving at least a 610 Math in June. Will USNA take my good grades into account for the whole person score when it comes to math?

Thanks in advance,

From what I understand, the whole candidate score for the Academic part of it is split between local (GPA, class rank, etc.) and National (SAT, ACT). So yes, your good grades should be taken into account. However, I thought that there was a minimum SAT score to become Academically Qualified. I'm not sure about that, but I thought I saw something about minimums while searching these forums in the past.

Yes, I have seen those, but I've already recieved my official candidate package. And my SATs fall into Navy's percentile. Oh well, there's always June!

Thanks

Yes, there is definitely June and plenty more dates to take it before the application can no longer be updated. The SAT/ACT definitely rewards practice and experience so just plug away at those practice books and tests and you should improve! It definitely helped me the second time around.

You have plenty of time to get it up. I got 550 my first time, and the second time I got a 660. Obviously the math is a big part of it, but unless you're going for a perfect score, the national scale does have a big part on how well you will do.

USNA will give you credit for your best scores on the math and verbal portions of either the SAT or ACT regardless of how many times you took the exams, and will cross exams to ensure that you are getting credit for your best marks. Keep working on your scores until you feel certain that you have done your absolute best, and you will have to make that call. Remember also that qualifying scores are not necessarily competitive scores; a verbal score on ACT of 24 may be considered qualifying, but it really isn't competitive in any district that is reasonably competitive.
