May 1st deadline with multiple waivers still pending

My apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum section to post this into....

My DD has multiple great POTENTIAL options before her and finally got one medical waiver decision but still has 2 waiver requests pending and we are not sure what is considered the proper response options if the May 1st deadline comes and waivers are still pending...

Current status in order of her preferences:
------
1) USCGA: Conditional Appointment, contingent on receiving a medical waiver (they said today the waiver deadline is normally 5/15 but may be extended longer on a case-by-case basis due to Covid-19);

2) NROTC: 4 year scholarship to Ivy League school, contingent on receiving a medical waiver (ROTC unit recently indicated waiver decision may not be till June or later due to Covid-19);

3) USMMA: Recently received waiver and now has full Appointment (was conditional until recently);
------
USMMA was great and both USCGA and her NROTC unit have been great and following up with her regularly indicating they really want her and are strongly asking for waivers.

We recently received notification that NROTC New Student Indoctrination (NSI) has been cancelled and they acknowledged delays in DODMERB processing and indicated that we should be prepared to pay full tuition in the fall until notified that we have received the waiver (and if the waiver is denied then we would have to pay to attend the school). While I can maybe pay for a semester or two I don't think I can afford paying for 4 years at an Ivy League School.

USCGA Admissions has called her multiple times and knows that they are her first choice if she gets the waiver but since she doesn't have the waiver yet she has nothing to sign with no full appointment yet.

I am pretty concerned about this situation as my DD is being asked to make a commitment without knowing whether she will get a waiver in either of her top 2 desired choices.

I have read on multiple sites that it is OK to double deposit to schools when wait-listed at your primary choice and/or possibly if you have financial offers pending but I couldn't find any guidance for pending medical waiver scenarios.

In this Covid-19 medical waivers delayed scenario is it OK on 5/1 to:
- Accept USMMA with full intention to go if neither other waiver comes through in time;
- Let USCGA know that she would still like to go to USCGA if they can process her waiver in time;
- Pay Ivy League non-refundable-deposit to accept admittance (NROTC unit is aware that she likely will have to withdraw if she does not receive the waiver and the Ivy League school knows she is an NROTC applicant);

I would appreciate other folks thoughts on what is appropriate to do in this situation.

Just to give you an example, my DD got a waiver from West Point in early February of her senior year of high school. It only took two weeks for USMA to process.

She did not get in and went the ROTC route. Her ROTC waiver was not approved until the second semester of her Freshman Year of College.

This was 2016..

OP has your DD communicated with Larry Muller, Deputy Director of DODMERB? If not, check out that thread and follow the “FAST” sticky pinned tab at the top of the forum.

All kinds of good things to seem to happen, and quickly, when that process is followed!

Specific to your question, my answer would be yes. Your DD can go AD Coast Guard or Navy from USMMA, or sail on her license. Not much of a down side to accept her Kings Point appointment.

Yes I believe so and I believe he also has helped and put her into contact with a USCG resource as well. My concern is that what to do if neither of the Waivers come before 5/1 but then come after (as late as 5/15 or later).

Thanks though that isn't exactly what I am asking. I am not asking what her options are after graduation from USMMA.

If 5/1 comes and she has no other waivers yet then the only confirmed option she can say for sure yes to is USMMA.

If she says yes to USMMA on 5/1 and while preparing to go to USMMA she then later (say for example ~5/15 or even June) gets her USCGA &/or NROTC waiver is it then improper to resign from USMMA and go to one of the newly opened up options?

Yes, she can do that. It's not common, but it happens! She would be one of those 'built in' rejection numbers at some point, the closer it gets to Iday (or whatever it is called at USMMA). Until you show up on Day and take the Oath, she isn't committed (and even after taking the Oath, she can leave usna at least up to signing the 2 for 7 agreement...).

If you go that route it is the nuclear option so if this is first child be sure siblings didn’t have an interest in attending. Some will tell you it doesn’t matter but admissions officers are human.
