Meal Time at BCT

Blahukahuna, thanks for the informative and insightful answer. My uninformed assumption was that "eating at attention" as described above was abolished at all the service academies. I never felt that it was useful but rather counterproductive.

Our first web guy picture, still on my refrigerator since 2008, is of Twin B sitting at attention looking at that plate. It was the first Sunday at USAFA and boy did he look miserable.

Great fun (for us) to remember that time!
 
My thought process on the whole eating at attention was about following rules, orders, and etc. regardless of what you think of them. It's a reminder that the military is now in control of basically every aspect of your life.

I think it is a good thing that everyone in a squadron eats together and are not separated out by athletics. It builds them as a unit. I had assumed eating together was always the case. I was surprised to hear that they separated them out in the past.
