Not sure whether to ask here or in DodMERB...

DS is medically qualified. I took him in for a dermatology appt to get topical prescription acne meds. Due to scarring, dermatologist wanted to do tapering oral antibiotics for a few months also. "Mild acne" was previously stated on his DoDMERB exam but he was not on meds then.

Should I be concerned about him taking medication after being qualified? I don't want him to do anything that would jeopardize the qualified status, but at the same time, I don't want him to have to avoid treatment either.

Suggest mods move this to DoDMERB thread

Yes, you should be concerned. I think you would need to report it to DoDMERB.

For sure! Even the topical is a course of treatment for acne as a medical condition, and should be reported. Actively treating it with prescription meds is different than not treating mild acne, imo. If you are seeing a DR on a regular basis for a course of treatment for a condition, how can that not be reported?

He isn't seeing a doctor on a regular basis. I made the derm appt. myself to see what our short term treatment options would be before DS leaves home. She recommended a few different courses of treatment, so I guess my dilemma is whether or not to choose one of them or do nothing if it could cause DoDMERB issues. At this point I'm leaning toward him just waiting until he leaves home. Thanks for feedback all.

Understand this thought pattern with all the TLC that I can muster:

1. ”Should I be concerned...?”
2. ”My dilemma...”
3. Go to https://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil. Hit “questions about the process” tab on the left of the homepage. It is designed for you ;)
4. The bunk beds at the Academies are for “room mates,” not parents....o_O
5. Depending on YOUR age....YES...forehead slap...YOU could have had a V8:welcome1:
