Memorizing knowledge

Laws of the Navy. Each isn’t that hard, but there are many of them. “Now these are the laws of the Navy, unwritten and varied they be; And he that is wise will observe them, going down in his ship to the sea.” That’s as much as I remember. There are another 20+.

.
I wouldn’t worry too much about it. A lot of you kids memorize 10+ minute narratives from your favorite Rap artists .... I am 59, and I still haven’t memorized this Rap poetic song from Bob Dylan .... Wow .... Bob Dylan was Rapping before Rap was cool 😎

I remember that one and the strength of one link in the chain…

ProTip of the Day -- no matter what you are asked to memorize and recite, DO IT WITH CONFIDENCE. It is unlikely the Detailer knows it verbatim, so unless they are sitting with an open Reef Points, if you act like you know what you are doing and saying, you will usually get by.

NO, I am not suggesting that you should cut corner; you should strive for perfection, but if you want to avoid the Detailer screaming in your face (can they do that still ?) , if you miss a word here or there --keep going, don't go back and start stammering. This also helps you keep your rhythm and cadence -- so many of the Plebe Rates kind of "flowed" .... things usually go downhill if the rhythm is broken.

To all previous and current mids, what was the hardest piece of knowledge that you had to memorize?
I don't remember?😜

Seriously, I don't - but would 100% concur with Old Navy BGO - combine confidence, accuracy, and flow in your delivery. Don't laugh and be quick. Go for the flow/confidence over complete accuracy. Then the detailer will quickly move on to the next poor sucker in line. And if you figure out a method that works - share it with your classmates so that you all get done quickly and efficiently with minimal yelling.
