Missing a few vaccinations

I was accepted into USAFA on late May. As I was filling out my immunization form, I noticed I am missing a few mandatory vaccinations. Specifically I'm missing Chickenpox, HepA, Meningococcal, mmr, the current flu vaccine, and my TDAP vaccine was from 6 years ago. The website is saying I need to be current on all vaccinations before June 1st to be cleared to travel to USAFA. Am I screwed?

I was able to schedule my DS within 5 days of acceptance to get his mandatory vaccines last year during the height of Covid. So, you still probably have time to do it. That said, if you don't, you will just get your missing vaccines on I-day and have a sore arm.

Thank you for replying,
I doubt I can get my required vaccinations before the due date I need to hand in the form. So I will not be turned away from going to USAFA for missing some vaccinations? If so, I'll take the sore arm.

If you have been accepted to USAFA, then you have access to the appointee book. I’d call and email immunizations. The phone number is on the first few pages of important contacts.

I'm pretty sure that you will still be accepted by USAFA without the vaccinations. I've heard of some forgetting the vaccination form, and getting a bunch of shots on I-day. However, since you don't want to feel crappy to start basic, I would suggest you try to get your vaccinations before arriving. I was able to get my DS into his pediatrician last year for any missing shot without much trouble. That said, if they wouldn't have been able to do it, I'd have called around and found a place to get them, even if it was the clinic at the grocery store, CVS, or Walgreens.

My doctor wasn’t able to get me in before the end of the month so I was able to get all of mine at the department of health and human services. They did them same day. Good luck!

If you can't get all of them, at least try to get the ones known to make people sick and sore. (The flu shot didn't let me sleep a wink the night before my CALC III final... wouldn't want that at BCT if it's possible to avoid)

I have everything else cleared out besides the chicken pox which two of those doses must be at least 4 weeks apart. I called my ALO this morning and he said to just put today's date in and explain later on why I couldn't get vaccinated. I got an appointment May 20 and it wasn't until 23rd when I committed and had access to all the forms. It wouldn't make any sense for me to get chicken pox vax right now since the second dose will have to be when I'm in BCT which logistically won't work out.

If you get one dose of a multi-dose vaccine, USAFA will give you a second dose during BCT. You will just need to have all the documentation when you show up.

My advice is to get as many as you can. MD, Health Dept, Walgreens (flu). Whatever you can do. It's one less thing to worry about during BCT when you are tired and sleep-deprived.

According to the Appointee handbook, page 22, after the red special note, you can obtain a blood titer (basically an antibody check) for the virus and if it is "positive", you do not need the vaccine. Just ensure you bring that documentation with you. My DD did this over five years ago.

It’s required to have vaccinations that doesn’t sound like too good a idea but I’m not even sure what vaccines I have so....

The 1 June deadline for vaccinations is a "soft" deadline. It appears that way on the portal to (hopefully) prevent procrastination and a deluge of work for the Immunization Clinic at the last minute.

Still, you should have all vaccinations prior to showing up on I-day. Last minute exceptions can be made but they are rare.
