Is there any stats on Members of Congress (MOB) appointments being female?

My interview board of 6 were all males and of the 45 applicants majority from what I was told were males. I was well prepared for my interview and I think I crushed it but was wondering on the stats for female actually getting appointments :)

Take a look at the class profiles for the academy. It will have some stats in there.

You can look up class profiles similar to the link below for past years and other SAs:

No doubt somewhere there are stats on number of women who apply. Overall, I believe the gross number of female applicants is still less than male, likely a factor in the current proportion. Women wanting to be warriors is not necessarily a norm.

There are more and more female veterans every day, so MOC panels will eventually reflect that.

Your data sample is tiny. I suspect other will post their panels with different experiences. Here on SAF, there are female MOC panel members and SA grads.

Women have been obtaining appointments in increasing numbers since the intrepid class of 1980 in the last century.

If you’ve got the right stuff, you’ll get a fair shot at a nomination and an appointment.

Oh - and among many distinguished USNA grads who happen to be women, here’s one to enjoy. I suspect she crushed her MOC interviews too. From USNA Class of 1998:

Thank you for the articles and information. I’m a two time All American athlete and it would be nice to have more females involved with the process of MOC, AOL/Mentor. I really wanted to know the stats on MOC just an interesting stat for me. Especially when I actually get that appointment from MOC!

Get that appointment, do well, serve your time as an officer, and you can be on that panel down the road.

My son had 3 females on his. I’m sure it’s different everywhere. I’m not sure on stats but I do know that when the noms from each MOC came out in our state they had the names of all members of the board. I believe there were several on each list.

This is purely anecdotal, but I believe my son's MOC's committee was 25% female. It sounds like changes are slowly being made to reflect the female population in the academies.

For what its worth, my interviewing team this year was four people, one of whom was a female USMA grad who is still on active duty. We interviewed ten candidates, nine males and one female. By the way, our Congressperson that we were interviewing them for is a FEMALE USNA grad.

My daughter got interviews with both Senators & our Rep - all 9 of the interviewers were male. However, her ALO is a female. My daughter received all 3 Noms so she is hopeful for an appointment!

For all but one of my congressional interviews, at least a third of my interviewers were female. This was for the USMA interview panels btw.

Right now the number of females in the academy is around 30% but it is increasing every year.
