One thing i feel is important to remember is that memory is tricky. Words and actions mix with nightmares and feelings; details are twisted by adrenaline and a story is often only described through personal perspective. The fact that videos surfaced in this instance is good, it allows them to see from a different perspective than they did that day. The brain is selective. Certain things are committed to memory and others are lost or demented. In any case, the actions taken by these men are worthy of valor, though a true investigative property will show if the exten of his actions were meritorous enough for the award he was given. I personally believe they released this story preemptively. These theories are not yet confoundedly supported by evidence, and that is where rumors and criticism thrive.
McClatchy’s investigation raised questions about the military awards process, which some lawmakers, military officers and veterans groups say is subject to improper influence and manipulation.
