My DS is ready to be “picked up.” I know there was some early movement on here, and some waivers in the air. As I said previously I am no longer tea leaving….but I do know if they want him he is in an unrestricted category to be placed. It’s evident at this point he “does not meet the needs of the Navy” and maybe via some attrition that will change. He has quite a few updates he can add to his package…academic and medical….but I believe he won’t be able to until “next cycle” if HE chooses that route.
We are in the same category. Well said!

My unsolicited advice: If you kid does reapply, make sure he/she knocks the SAT/ACT out of the park, gets straight A’s (don’t worry about specific classes contrary to popular opinion on here, just straight A’s in college in anything), and utilize the Elizabeth Warren strategy.

Those are as close to an assurance as you can get for the next two cycles.

I don’t think you are right.

My unsolicited advice - put forth your best package to win the slate you compete on.

If you have a low SAT/ACT - you might consider retaking it. I would say your best chance is see what admissions says about your application, and work hard at college to address what they said, while taking similar courses/load as an Academy. And excel.

I’d say since DS didn’t get a request for waiver until Apr 10, truly doubt he was in contention for competing on a slate. His waiver should be good next cycle, unless I’m wrong about that.

Naval Academy via summer seminar and a sports camp won him over! Set me back 1900 bucks plus 3 trips to and from with diesel at 6 bucks per gallon….but he loved it! He can look to Annapolis again if that’s what it comes to, as well as the other service academies.

Did the request for the waiver come late because someone else would have won the slate regardless of the waiver? Said another way - did they process his waiver later because he was in contention for a different source or naps?

I believe I have read his medical and waiver are good for two years. Someone more knowledgeable than me will know.

Only “they” know.

DoDMERB exam is good 2 years, must update any medical history changes. Waivers, not sure, I would assume they carry over, but have not seen it specifically addressed at an official source - may also depend on case/waiver.

The people on the USNA waitlist are considered to be desirable additions to the class; there just isn’t room at the moment. There are fixed upper limits to SA populations. Ditto NAPS waitlist, desirable for Class of 2028 with a bit of prep. There are only so many seats at NAPS and so many Foundation Scholarships.

LWE for my DS, he was ‘turned down’ this morning. Off to VMI on a Navy ROTC-Marine option scholarship. Good luck 🍀 for the rest of y’all on the waitlist.
Sounds like your DS has a wonderful plan ahead at VMI, but of course this isn't the news he hoped for. I'm sorry! Thanks for the update.

DS just got the virtual TWE for NAPS waitlist too. NROTC it shall be, and that is fantastic. Best of luck to all on the waitlist. It's been as fun as possible waiting with you :)
Good luck!! What school is your DS attending? What NSI is he attending?

I just got turned down on the portal as well, I will be attending Iowa State this year along with ROTC and reapplying to the academy next year. Good luck to all, it was fun waiting with yall.
My sons were blessed to attend a wrestling camp
Hosted by Iowa State’s David Carr. If the institution reflects what he is as a man, or if the man is reflective of the institution….you just landed In a great place!
