If they request a AMI, or remedial, because of a DQ (if they are pursuing a waiver) then the cost is covered. However, you have the option of obtaining more information and submitting it to DODMERB on your own with the cost following on your own shoulders. My daughter had a DQ because of a high astigmatism in the left eye. We completed two additional examinations, one out of pocket, and one through a military provider. Both came back within "normal" astigmatism guidelines. I suggest requesting the results of all your medical documents submitted to DODMERB. You can request this in writing and scan and submit through email. Then, you would know for sure what you are facing in the future.
