My DS went to log into his Netfocus account and needed to register again because his portal had been inactive for 45 days. He did not make the 1st round selection and recently had his interview for the 2nd round. Previously, his portal said "Your application is at the ...for board selection". Today it just says the NROTC application window for 2017 is closed. Is anyone able to see their status and experiencing the same issue? I called Netfocus and the gentleman that I spoke to (very kind and helpful) said that he was going to have their Tier 2 department check on the status and will send an email by Tuesday verifying his status. He wasn't too sure but felt it was because the application window had closed. Just curious if this is the message we see once the application window is closed or if it should still be saying "Your application is at the..."

I expect the tech is correct in that it's too late to submit a new application for this year. At least someone is looking into it for you. I'm sure they'll clear it up satisfactorily.

I was concerned because his application was submitted months ago, has gone through one round of boards, and has just completed the second interview last week. He should still see the status on his portal correct?

Yes he should. Sounds like a software bug that needs to be worked on, perhaps related to registering again. Or it's just the fact that it expired and he registered again. I'm sure they'll work it out. If you haven't heard anything by Tues. AM I'd call again. Keep in mind this is all based on my own hypothesis and not direct knowledge, but having been a software engineer for 40 years I'm highly confident my assessment is correct.

Agree...thanks so much!

I seem to remember some people reporting that during the crossover between application years, you need to select which year you are part of. Could it be that your DS missed that in the opening prompts?

It very well could be! He did it on his own and is somewhat impatient when it comes to using the computer...say's he's not going to live his life behind a desk...
Who knows what he did! I asked him to check when he had friends over and they were trying to get out the door...I should have known better. I'm sure he'll clear it up next week.

I understand your confusion--I think. If he submitted everything and it had been sent away to the recruiter (who uploads the interview for your son); then he does not look at the original version of Netfocus again. He can only check the status of his application. Try this: www.netfocus.netc.navy.mil/NROTC/candidate_app/status_scholarship.aspx

Swag...all it does is tell you where your application is but you cannot see anything that you put into the system. Unless that is what you are talking about in which case I am not being terribly helpful.
