Does anyone know if you complete NG basic training prior to joining ROTC, do you still take the MS1 and MS2 ROTC classes? We read something that said you don't have to take ROTC Basic Course if you've completed basic training. If you do take them, do most colleges offer the MS1 classes in fall AND spring? My DS will probably miss fall semester (for BCT/AIT), so he'd start college as a freshman in the spring semester. Wondering if that will pose a problem with availability of MS1 classes, since they are sequenced?

I belief the ROTC Basic Course being referred to is the summer training. I don't know if one who has done basic need take this but it wouldn't surprise me if it's optional. This has nothing to do with the MS1 and MS2 classes. How they are scheduled is a function of the college. Hell, some college don't even call them MS1 and MS2.
PLEASE DISREGARD, I'm an idiot!
OK, so for the benefit of all, what was it that you discovered? I know I had my own answer to that question but I couldn't find confirmation so I didn't post.

I was given a similar answer as to what you said above: Basic Course in general means the first two years in ROTC. So if you start ROTC as a Junior you can fulfill the first two years by doing the summer training before Junior year. That scenario doesn't apply to my DS. We're still trying to find out if the first ROTC course he would take as a freshman is offered in the Spring semester. Thanks for your response!
