This might just be me being paranoid and nervous but what happens if there are no slots anymore for USNA when the time comes for me to get a nom? Im a current junior, and the past year, 3 people from my district were appointed to the naval academy, and this year there is a great number of people from my district seeking a nomination to the naval academy as well. Since there are already 3 slots filled for my MOC's 5 person max, what if 2 people from my district are appointed to USNA this year, leaving no more slots for me to apply for a nom to USNA for next year. Again this might just be me being heavily paranoid, but what would be the case for that. Also, Im in CA so Senator nominations are hard to get.

Just because 3 got appointments in one year from your district does not mean they were all charged to your MOC. They could of been charged to their Senators, came from the National Pool and therefore got a Sec Nav slot, VP slot, or even a Presidential. Don’t worry when you see several getting appointments, their charging source could be from a variety of ways. Most MOCs leave at least one spot open per a class.

As Navy Hoops said appointments can be charged to various sources. My district averages 6-7 appointments every year.

You don't have any idea what the nominating source was for the 3 that went to the Academy this year, how many the MOC has in right now, or how many will get appointed this year. All we know is that a MOC can have 5 in at any given time -- keep in mind that some graduate or attrite, so you could just as likely have two openings next years as none.

Bottom line, Worry about what you can control, and apply to all Nomination sources you are eligible for .

Your MOC will have a slot. SA's work diligently with MOC's to make sure they understand the system and don't end up with no slots in a particular year. Many years ago this did occur, but it would be extremely unlikely to happen today.

Even if your MOC only has 1 slot to fill he still passes out 10 nominations. All you need to get in, besides being fully qualified and competitive, is a single nom. Even if someone else winds your slate there is till the chance of getting selected from the National Waiting List under various auspices. It ain't over 'til it's over and the nomination part of the process is very very far from over.
