Hello All,

I received an email a month and a half ago from my admissions liason officer that I was competitve for an loa but I never received one. I am triple Q'd and have a congressional and a presidential nomination now.

Now that I have the congressional nomination, shouldn't that initiate some sort of action in the admissions office? I have had my app done since August and it was reviewed and passed by the board in September. I should hear before Christmas right???

Thanks!

Dan, waiting is painful, especially when you've done your part and your MOC his/hers. You're discovering the "hurry up and wait" mode that you'll likely be living all too soon. Be patient. There's nothing more to do but that now. Continue believing that as long as no "NO" is what you know, your candidacy remains fully viable. And that's good news!

Conventional wisdom would suggest that you should be hearing sooner than later. But conventional wisdom is not always the convention in this process.

Keep looking up.

Sorry Dan but as Whistle Pig said, there is nothing more you can do at this point. I sincerely hope that you hear very soon, but checking the mailbox multiple times a day every day is just going to make you feel worse. Instead might I suggest that you accept being notified by April 1. If you hear sooner you will be pleasantly surprised. Enjoy the time between now and April as the time really will move faster if you focus on April 1.

If you don't mind me asking, what does your academic record look like?

Being honest here, if you do not have an LOA in hand, the fact you have one, two, three or even more noms does not guarantee you an appointment.

Several years ago, I had a triple-qualified candidate with three noms in a VERY competitive area who did not receive an appointment.

Having mulitiple noms is great; it is not a guarantee of anything unless you are a principal nominee and/or have an LOA (not a statement that you are qualified for one).

usna1985, im just getting anxious. not trying to imply i will get in or anything i just was hoping that someone could give me an accurate estimate as to when i might hear back from admissions. sorry for the confusion.

Your assumption should be that you won't hear anything until April 15.

Give It A Chance

usna1985, im just getting anxious.

danwild17,
Just sit back a bit and give the process time to work. Enjoy the holiday season with family and friends. Then, one day, you'll pull up onto the driveway at your home and notice a manilla envelope at your front doorstep. That's when your patience will be rewarded. If you think this wait is long, it's nothing compared to counting the days to June 27, 2013, I-Day for the Class of 2017.
Happy Holidays...
