For applications like the VP and MOC nominations, is using the same 500 word essay for the actual service academy application a good idea in cases when the word limit and core question ("why do you want to attend this service academy?") are the same? I'm somewhat worried that the review board for the nomination will also have access to my academy admissions package, and then see that the same essay appears twice. Is this a valid concern? I'm not entirely opposed to writing a new essay, but it just seems strange to write a different essay of the same length answering the same question.

Well I used multiple essay for three nomination sources. If they had asked I would have told them want to put my best foot forward to every source and that was the essay I wrote. I was never call out on the fact I used my essays more than once. Actually I was advicwd to do so by my ALO as writing essays took time away from interview prep, or school.

I also believe they can't read the essays on your application. Otherwise I think I would have gotten a few more questions than necessary about my ethics essay for usafa ;) (wrote about my past which had events not in my control, but wanted to express what I had gone through to get to where I was to the committee).

Anyway don't quote me. I know I used my essays more than one once and never heard anything about it, however if you ask your ALO and they say otherwise please go with their advice.
