Has anyone else been interviewed and broadcasted on a local news channel? I can't go in public without someone seeing me and congratulating me on my "acceptance." It has heightened my anxiety of not being appointed. The news video has been shared 450 times on various social media. Let me know if you've had a similar experience.
Northern NY candidate- 1/29/18

Ny-21? I know that nearby districts release press announcements for Appointments, not noms. Congrats and good luck.

Do you know the member ‘ncnordicfamily’?

Thank you. How did you know my district? what district are you from? I wish this press release was for a LOA, but it definitely was not. No I don't know him.

This has happened to my son. He has been in the media several times (in regards) to the USNA. Unfortunately most people do not understand the process and just assume that he is going to the Naval Academy. We are still waiting with our fingers crossed.

Does this imply that your DS/DD received a principal appointment? If yes, can you find out what type of oppointment your child received without contacting MOC?

Wow, I can't imagine being interviewed for receiving a nomination...an appointment maybe, but not a nomination.

Perhaps this differs based on location? If there aren't many applicants/nominees in your area, maybe it's a big new item locally? In our area, it's very common, so not such a big deal that the media would get involved.

Best advice...... politely decline media requests related to SA admissions. Especially and specifically an on camera request. This could come back to bite you big time!

I could see where it would be a big deal in a small rural town/city. After all, just getting a nomination is actually quite an honor.
