I just received a senatorial nomination for the Naval Academy today! (I live in Arizona). I did say in all of my interviews that USAFA was my first choice and USNA was my second, but it is still very exciting. I haven't heard anything about getting a nomination for USAFA- has anyone received a nomination for USAFA specifically in Arizona yet? I am kind of panicking because I know that the West Point and Naval Academy noms went out today, but still no word from USAFA.

No, I've just heard about USNA - one from my Congressman and one from a Senator (not sure which office, McSally or Sinema, it's from). Did you hear via email/phone or by portal update like me? Last year I received an email as well as a physical letter before it showed up in the portal.

Our son saw 2 senator noms show up in portal today. Listed as AZ 1 and 2. 2 being junior senator (if updated mcsally) He has not heard via email or call or snail mail yet from senators. Got letter from rep Monday.
Congratulations to you!!!!!!

I only found out about the nomination from my USNA portal- I haven't gotten any calls or mail yet.

Your post needs some clarification. Your noms come from your congressional members that you applied to. Usually, when a MOC releases their slates, it’s done for all academies. IOW, if MOC xxx was going to nominate you to USAFA, you would be told you are receiving a nom to USNA and USAFA from that MOC when they tell you.

If you are referring to finding out you received you USNA nom by looking at your portal, that isnt USNA ‘releasing their noms’. It’s USNA recording in your portal that particular MOC’s slate....that USNA received MOC xxx’s slate to USNA and you are on that slate. USAFA may not have MOC xxx’s slate from that MOC recorded yet. Keep checking!

If you are referring to the other nom’s available that a SA awards (VP, presidential, supe...), those also aren’t ‘released’. For example, the VP nom application hasn’t even closed yet.

Congrats on the nom!

My son received congressional nominations to USNA, WP, and USAFA. We only found out thru the portals. The USAFA nom showed up 2 days after the other two. So maybe there is still hope to get one to AFA.

I found out I received a congressional nomination today from a USNA portal update. I'm not sure when my MoC office will notify me, but it looks like that the portal update is going to be the best bet to find out first. Currently have both the NJROTC nom and MoC nom for USNA, and everything else is done and qualified. Just waiting to hear from USNA! :)

Set expectations -

The MOC may or may not call, their option. Don’t ignore unknown phone calls!

The wait for an appointment can go into April. Applications are not all in, ditto elected official slates, so process is still unfolding. Pace yourself. Tend alternate plans, enjoy senior year, do PT to manage stress, appreciate this could be your last 6 months of living at home, and hug your family more.

And congratulations on the nom!

Thank you!! I appreciate the advice, and I will make sure to do the last thing you said especially.

@falconhopeful2024 the information from @justdoit19 is not what always happens.

Your noms come from your congressional members that you applied to.
..
Last year I had several candidates that received noms to academies they did not even apply to. One was a principal nom to USMMA, he never applied. Another received a nom to USMA and never applied. Some MOC's don't call they just send a letter via snail mail. Also MOC's can alter their slate at any time until 31 Jan. They can add or delete as they see fit. Usually don't delete but that option is available. Also the slate is not always sent to academies at the same time. It can come in at different times.

If you are referring to the other nom’s available that a SA awards (VP, presidential, supe...), those also aren’t ‘released’. Sorry they have and can be released as the academy decides.
