Blackbird is correct, since you have a nom in hand you are now in queue for the admissions board which will meet weekly starting in Oct. Yrs. passed they would meet on Monday, apptmts sent out on Wed. Snoopy mailbox lurking begins on Thursday and ends with Sat. mail. OBTW, Admissions boards do not meet when school is not in session, so basically when the cadets leave for winter break, there will be no BFE's in your driveway.
Some ALO's will inform you if they are in close contact with the AFA regional when you are going up for the board.
It is rare that even with this one nom to get an appointment right off the bat, because in this scenario, they will have so many noms., that unless you are def. in, they may hold off to the end. They may wait to get your 7th semester grades, and see if you have other noms.
That is why the mass mailing is done in Mar. They want to wait for many to see where to slide each and every appointment in that has multiple noms. Reason why is to make the best class possible. By giving an apptmt in Oct., with only a Presidential, they may find themselves locked into charging it to Presidential, by waiting until the MOC's slates are up, it gives them more freedom regarding who to charge.
That is also why you keep going for other MOCs. Remember only about 10-15% of cadets will get apptmts prior to the mass mailing, many will be LOA's, principals, or candidates that have such a high WCS they know that they will win the apptmt if not on that slate (Pres), but def. from the national pool.
It is called a MASS MAILING for a reason. It is good you are this far along, but keep adding to that resume, keep applying for more noms until the board closes in Feb.. As I said not every Presidential nom will get apptd. so don't assume that it is now over and all you have to do is wait for the BFE. @400+ every yr never get in on the Presidential nom, they may get in, but their apptmt was from a different source.
