I just received an email from the Notre Dame Naval Rotc congratulating me on my scholarship however my portal has not changed. It still says a decision has not been made. Before I get too excited and get my hopes up did anyone else get recent notification from their school and their portal still not change?

Are you already in to ND? If you are, then I'd say it's very likely not a mistake. Really doubt their PNS would make a mistake like that. Congratulations! I was friends with a bunch of great guys who commissioned from NROTC at ND (many years ago now!).

Yes I was accepted at Notre Dame on Sunday and my portal for the Naval ROTC changed today so it’s official and Notre Dame gave me a merit scholarship that easily covers room and board. Wow. I’m Shocked.

In my very biased opinion, it's one of the best schools in which to be in ROTC.

Congratulations! Double-check on the merit scholarship part in light of the receipt of the NROTC scholarship. When our DD got the NROTC scholarship, they pulled their merit scholarship and it could not be used for Room and Board. Luckily, she had other outside scholarships that covered most of her R&B, though. DD LOVED NROTC at ND and has no regrets on her decision to go there.

We have two kiddos at ND, one in NROTC. Once the University realized we had a student in ROTC, we lost merit money for the ROTC student.

I have spoken to the financial aid office and I was awarded a scholarship through a scholars program that I interviewed for through the University and they have confirmed I am able to keep that award up to the amount that is needed for cost of attendance which includes room and board. Since the award works out to be about 4,000 over what is needed to cover everything they will reduce the amount of the award each year by that amount.

Had the chance to live in Pensacola, Corpus Christi, Jacksonville and San Diego in the last 4 years. DS2 will graduate from ND in May also 4 year scholarship and will report to Pensacola for flight school in June. Go Irish! Fly Navy!
