Hi there,

I had a quick question about the section on the NROTC application where it asks you to pick SWO, Sub, EOD etc and a quick comment on why. I assume this is not binding and are they using this information to balance the candidates they select?. So if hundreds selected SWO then they would favor giving the scholarship someone who said Sub?. If you pick something that's rare to begin with like EOD does that affect your chances of being selected?

Thank you

Not binding. The community you indicate interest in has absolutely no bearing on scholarship selection.

It's a writing/communication exercise. One more way for the applicant to demonstrate program motivation (research of the available communities) and in a short amount of space, convey the why to the board.

Not binding, if anything the overwhelming amount of people change their mind.

I would add, to express being open to any community in the “why” box. If you are. And honestly, you should be as the needs of the Navy come dictate service assignment.
