My son applied for the NROTC scholarship and was notified that he received the National 4-year. The only problem is, it was to his second choice school, and he did not get accepted to it. He was accepted to his first choice to Embry-Riddle with the Chancellors Scholarship ($10,800 value per year), University of Florida, and University of Missouri-Columbia. He has put in for a request of unit change, but was put on a wait list. We are trying to prepare for plan C. Our problem is, the other schools have closed their acceptance so no matter what, he cannot get in. We did not have the funds to pay the acceptance/housing fees to all the schools so we chose the one he had the scholarship to. We are at a loss and don't know what to do. This is a big deal to our family as we do not have the funds to send him to school and do not want to waste this kind of opportunity. We were told that he can pick a list of other schools with rolling admissions, but Embry-Riddle has rolling admissions. Can he start in the spring of 2017 and still keep the NROTC scholarship instead of starting in the fall of 2016? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
