Question on changing schools: Is it better to notify the board now that I didn't get into my 2nd choice school (in-state, so cheaper)? Or, should I just wait to see if I get the award and request transfer if necessary? My 1st choice remains the same (out-of-state, so more expensive).
While it may seem counter intuitive, the finances side of things isn't relevant. Public vs private has a bearing when caps are set for each unit, but isn't looked at when a student asks for a change of placement. Costs are controlled via unit caps, not by approving or denying placement change requests from public to private. The reality is that most students will not have an issue getting their change of placement approved, given that caps are relatively high compared to the annual number of scholarships awarded in recent years.
