If someone could read over my essay and provide any feedback, that would be awesome!

Discuss your reasons for wanting to become a Naval Officer. Specifically comment on leadership positions you've held, the challenges you have faced and the lessons you have learned. (2500 characters)

I am excited about becoming a Naval Officer because it would enable me to reach my career goal of a leadership position in a technical field. Also it would be an honor to serve the country in which I am privileged to be a citizen.
In the leadership positions I have held, which include Founder and President of the Coding Club and Captain of the Sailing team, I faced challenges and learned lessons that have given me a taste of what is expected of a Naval Officer. These experiences make me confident I am well-suited for such a career and reinforced my decision to pursue it.
When I proposed the first Computer Science Club at my high school, the Club Committee resisted. They were skeptical that there would be enough interest. I was confident it could succeed and in order to convince the committee, I worked with a faculty member to create a more interesting concept for the club and recruited over a dozen students who agreed to express interest to the committee. The committee reconsidered and approved. Now, in our second year, the club is active and has over twenty members. We are planning a school-wide coding competition to be held this spring. This experience taught me the value of having a common goal and that effective communication with both my peers and the club committee was crucial for success.
During my sophomore year, the school sailing team (including me) was more interested in socializing than sailing. We had fun at practice and at races, but our performance suffered. When junior year came around, I felt an obligation to try to improve our attitudes and raise intensity levels at practices. When we started working harder, we started to function as more of a cohesive team and we raised our game at races. The coach recognized the influence I had on the team, and I received the Leadership Award and the Captain position. This experience taught me the value of teamwork and leading by example.
In these experiences, I learned the importance of both leadership and followership. I believe both skills are crucial to success as a Naval Officer because an officer must give orders to those ranked below and follow orders from those ranked above. I look forward to developing leadership skills as an NROTC midshipman and while serving as an officer in the Navy.

I really like most of this essay - shows perseverance, reflection, self awareness, leadership, impact, progression of responsibility, and it's nicely organized/ thoughtful and it presents you well for the "Comment on leadership positions you've held, the challenges you have faced and the lessons you have learned. " part of the prompt. but I recommend more specific details on answering why you want to become a naval officer. I read your the details below and honestly was underwhelmed. The essay doesn't compel me to think YES, this candidate wants to serve in the Navy. Those reading as they asked, want to know why you want to serve and I think there is room for improvement to strengthen this part of your answer.

Please feel free to post a Version II or ask additional questions if more feedback would be helpful. Good luck.
