Hey guys,

I'm currently a 4/C MIDN with a Navy scholarship. I have definitely learned that my strengths would be much much better suited in the Marine Corps, and I have a strong interest in switching from a Navy to Marine scholarship. Based on research, it is a quite straightforward process when done right. However, I have heard talk from multiple people that NROTC is no longer allowing this at the moment because of recruitment issues with the Navy. I haven't seen any official statements saying so but I've heard many people say this is the case.

Do any of y'all know anything about this or have any advice pertaining to this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

There’s an official process for this, called Blue to Green. I’ve seen it go both ways while I was in NROTC, it is not a side thing to be able to transfer. Talk to your class advisor and MOI to get started. Usually they won’t really start looking into it until after CORTRAMID (when you spend a week with the Marines)

Agree with speaking with the MOI. As I recall the process the Navy MIDN had to apply for an NROTC MOI sideload to make the switch. Don't know what happened to folks who didn't make the cut.

Just like any switch of community in the military, you have to get authority from your current community to leave and the authority of your desired community to be accepted. The unit should be able to provide the best path for this. Reach out to your MOI and Navy leadership to discuss.

Pretty sure they stay as NROTC Navy options if they don't get picked up for the Blue-to-Green
