Hello all, I have a few questions about the NROTC Scholarship I am up for...hopefully those of you who have inside knowledge can help me with some answers:

1) When will I find out? I submitted everything shortly before the March 1st deadline...what time frame can I then expect to hear back from the selection board? Early, mid, or late April? Anyone have a guess?

2) Are NROTC Scholarships transferrable? Meaning, if I get into University X but apply for a transfer to University Y because of it having better academics or some such reason, will I have the ability to apply to University Y's NROTC unit and have my scholarship money transferred?

3) What are my options if I don't get a full-ride scholarship? I realize that my chances are slim considering I applied so late in the game and indicated a Tier 2 rather than Tier 1 major. Specifically, what other lesser-value NROTC scholarships are available, if any?

Thanks!

Don't know about #1. There is a (slim?) Chance for a xfer to another school in the same brigade. There are no lesser scholarships. You can re-apply next year, or you can brooks in NROTC without the scholarship and re-apply next year. In these two scenarios, the scholarships are from different pools. Some say odds are better if you don't enroll in NROTC but I'm not convinced that's true. If you are interested in the Marine Option you might consider the Platoon Leader Course as well.
