NROTC TWE

My DS received the TWE five years ago. He reapplied the next year and won a 4-year scholarship and graduates next month. he was told there was 0% chance to receive it but he did. Don’t give up!

I've been posting on this forum, about USNA and NROTC. Today I recieved my turndown for a 4 year NROTC scholarship today. I did put my deposit down at RPI, as a plan B though.
RPI is a great option. There is an NROTC unit there. Although you did not receive a 4 year scholarship, consider the College Program which will allow you to participate in the unit and compete for a scholarship. Visit the rpi.rotc.edu website for more info. The best to luck to you.

I’m sorry to hear about your TD. My DS was in your shoes in 2021. It’s stinks. But! Don’t give up! So many stories of kids starting off as College Programmers & earning 3 year sideloads (including my kid!). He’s headed back to Japan for summer training for the 2nd year. There will be other CPs in your unit - you guys can do it! Good luck 🍀!

(I love a good underdog story!)

Do not look at this as hitting a wall or going in the wrong direction. Look at this as just a detour to your final goal. Yes it sucks right now and only time will heal this wound, but it is a minor wound. Join the unit as a CPer do well academically, on your PRTs, and with the unit. If you do all of that, you will have a great shot at a side load scholarship.

Don't get discouraged! Apply as a college programmer if you are committed to serving in the Navy! My daughter did the same thing last year and her unit sent her to NSI. She was selected at NSI to carry the flag at graduation for her unit by their gunnery seargent and had a full scholarship by second semester of her freshman year! She leaves for CORTRAMID in less than a month. Hang in there, put in the hard work where ever you end up and things will work out!

I assume you'll be joining the NROTC unit without the scholarship and apply for a sideload when able?

My friend, I commission here in less than 2 weeks. I was also denied for an AROTC scholarship out of high school, it sucked. Like it really got to me.

But in two weeks I'll be an officer and I can't remember the last time I thought about my scholarship, or if I even remember the process or heartbreak that came with applying for it in high school.

Don't give up, killer.

May I prematurely congratulate the new 2LT? I remember when you were first applying. So glad to see you MAKE your dream come true. Good Luck!

Thank you! The end is bittersweet. I'm burnt out from college and my body feels like its aged at 35.
