    Hey guys,

I was recently awarded a 4-year NROTC Scholarship to UC Berkeley. However, I wasn't accepted into the school and I now plan on attending RPI. Does anybody know the chances of being able to change the unit you were assigned to another school? I would be out-of-state for UC Berkeley if that helps.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

All you can do is submit the paperwork and request the change. Do it as soon as possible. RPI may be popular, since the school gives every ROTC student a full Room and Board scholarship.

I sent in my paperwork earlier today. I hope the unit isn't full yet. Do you think it would help if I emailed the recruiting officer of the unit?

    Thanks!

http://www.rpi.edu/dept/naval/www/index.html Here is the link to RPI's unit. They also have a FB page as well. (My son is finishing up his 2nd year in RPI's unit. Very small, close knit group.) It certainly cannot hurt getting in contact with the recruiting officer in the unit.

My son had to change his school as well. He was initially assigned to Texas A&M, but chose not to even apply to A&M after getting into OSU, Purdue, Miami and PSU (and ultimately RPI).

That's great! I hope I'll have the same luck.

Did you contact the unit at Cal and explain your dilemma?

Heads up about contacting the RPI unit- you have abetter shot at calling rather than emailing. I have sent several emails to the RPI officer and have never heard a response- even after meeting him in person. Hoping to save someone else from the frustration.

It does say on unit's FB page that they "typically reply within an hour" if you send them a message. (If you comment on the page telling them that they have Admiral Nimitz's name spelled incorrectly however.....well, I'm still holding out hope that it gets corrected. ;)

There should be a closing parantheses in the post I am quoting. (Can't figure out how to go back and make that edit.) :(
