Just curious, having already submitted my NROTC app and am in middle of USNA app, and were to receive a disciplinary action such as a detention, could it still affect my application or possible selection, and would they even know of it this late? Just curious as my friend has been asking and thought id ask y'all.

Detention is not going to be an issue, but larger disciplinary actions, such as, cheating, plagiarism, fighting or anything that would get you suspended can impact you for both an appointment or a scholarship.
All colleges will require a final transcript will be required and they can revoke admission if a suspension has occurred, especially for an "honor" violation.
Also for any SA they will require a 7th semester transcript, so again they will see it on your transcript if the school places disciplinary action on the official transcript.
