Has anyone received their official package (BFE?) from USAFA recently? I am patiently waiting to get this before I make an official announcement, but I don't want to wait 2 months. I've heard some people have had to wait a while. Thank you for the help!

some people never receive one and they just get notified they've received an appointment through the portal :bounce1:

Really? I thought that all appointees would receive an official blue folder aka "BFE" (which my DS has not yet since March wave appointments) but because of Covid and short staff, it was less of a priority.....am I mistaken?

My DS and family will be very dissappointed since we never received a call/email/text from his nominator or even a letter through good old USPS.
We realize that online portal gave us the AMAZING news, however without the pomp and circumstance for HS graduation, not being able to properly celebrate with friends and family the AMAZING news of joining the long blue line, the possibility of not being able to escort our DS to I-day and everything traditional to the day, no blue certificate will be....disappointing but not catastrophic, but it would be so nice if it does come!

Reality check: The cadets of 2020 couldnt have family or friends attend their Academy Graduation, or even hug their classmates to celebrate their awesome acheivements...I think we will all be ok even without that beautiful Blue Certificate of appointment.

Yes, you’ll be OK. When DD got her folders from three SAs, we marveled at them, said “ooh, ahh,” and then she put them away. Now, two years later, I’m not sure she could find them if you gave her a million dollars. Once you take the oath and begin cadet/mid life, you’ll quickly learn that there are far more meaningful souvenirs for the experience — some of them pleasant, some of them not.

I could very well be mistaken, I’m a junior who’s just now starting the application but I think I’ve seen it said a few times that not everyone will get the BFE and instead it might just be in the portal.

You get notified of an appointment in the portal. However, after accepting the appointment, they will send you the "BFE" certificate. My best guess is they're late this year due to admissions working from home.

I remember reading somewhere that due to COVID-19, they have minimized the shipment of documents as most are WFH. Just a thought to keep in mind...

At this point in your process, this blue folder is pretty special. For some, it is the physical ‘award’ of the culmination of all the blood, sweat and tears of your education. For some it’s for that last 18 month appointment process. At this point in your career, it’s amazing to hold that folder, have the certificate to display, take those pictures. Yes, it’s true, in time it wont be a big deal. But today it is! I hope everyone receives their blue folder. I’ve read that (usna) is doing their paperwork appointment package online now (vs sending it in the mail). But have not heard that the blue folders are not still going out. I hope it comes soon for you (and your parents) to proudly display. Next year it wont matter as you will have better things to celebrate.

Congrats on you appointment!!

RE: Blue Folders with Appointment Certs -- Please understand these are unprecedented times for SAs as well. All Admissions personnel are working remotely. The same goes for the legislative(Congress & Senate) staffers. In normal times everyone would receive the blue folder and appointees would receive notice(usually a phone call) from their respective nomination source. These are not normal times. Hang in there!
