orthodontic devices

My son had braces several years ago, orthodontia is complete; however, he has a permanant bottom retainer, and still wears the upper (removable) retainer at night. He wants to have the orthodontist place a permanant top retainer also (waiting to hear if there even is such a thing).

Does anyone know USMA's policy on retainers, permanant or removable?

This would be more of a DoDMERB question, but the answer is, a permanent retainer should not be an issue.

EDIT: a removable retainer will not be an issue either.
