So I'm a sophomore in HS looking to go into USNA. I'm currently in AFJROTC and it's the only one my HS offers. Does this help as much as NROTC does? If at all?

It helps if it's something you WANT to do. Don't do it because you think it makes your application look better.

USNA is concerned with your academic standing, your standardized test scores, your physical fitness and overall health and wellness, your Varsity sports participation, extracurricular stuff, etc.

Put forth your best application. Get great grades. Take the PSAT, the SAT and the ACT. Get great scores in Math and English.
Take AP classes and take the AP tests for all of them.
Stay healthy and make healthy lifestyle choices. If you're not in great physical condition, get there.

Go to USNA.edu and read every page and every drop-down menu and link. Everything is there.
Good luck.

I started my freshman year when I didnt want to go to the academy. I was gonna continue the program no matter the answer. Just curious to see. Thank you for the advice I'll try my best!

JROTC is a good experience if you want to attend an SA. Whether your specific program matches the specific SA (e.g. NJROTC for USNA) matters not at all. You won’t be penalized for something you can’t control. But JROTC won’t necessarily help you either, if the aspects mentioned by @THParent aren’t top-shelf. So do well in AFJROTC, and do even better on the other stuff. Best wishes to you.
