This made me so much more excited. I honestly cannot wait. I will report back whenever I get through with my tour about my experience!I just got back from mine. To preface, it was great. Prepare to be fully involved within the cadet life-- calling minutes if you're with a plebe, eating in the chaos of Washington Hall, working out with a specific team just to name a few examples. In my experience, it was intense. I definitely expected the intensity of the Academy but being a witness to it is way different.
I would make sure to bring adequate workout clothes and an appropriate change of clothes for before and after. It would also be good to prepare for classes. Maybe that looks like bringing a notebook or bringing some schoolwork to do on your own time. I was not prepared for the free time during the day (my cadet had a bunch of dropped classes for some reason) and I regretted not bringing a book or some homework. There was a lot of standing around during minutes or formation so make sure to have warm clothes as it gets pretty cold as well.
I am totally glad I went and it was an absolute blast. Definitely strengthened my interest in the Academy. I hope you have a great time and good luck!
I really appreciate this outlook, it seems like I have a lot to experience. Thank you!Its ok to be nervous, but this is a great opportunity to see the culture, amazing campus, classes, etc. My son did one a few years ago and it was the best opportunity to see where he fit the best, and USMA was it over USAFA, and Texas A&M Corp of cadets. This is an opportunity for you, and no one is going to yell at you or anything. Just take it all in, see if you could see yourself at USMA, are these your kind of people?
Good luck, Have fun.
Go Army!
How did it go? I am eager to hear about it.I have an Overnight Tour coming up, and am a bit nervous for it. Does anyone have their own personal experiences, or anything that I should know about? Thank you!
Just got back from my Overnight Tour! It was an amazing experience, everything was fast paced and the instructors were very nice. I tried to follow all the rules that the plebes have to, and it made it even better. Really solidified my choice in USMA!How did it go? I am eager to hear about it.
