My daughter received a four year AROTC scholarship and while I’m sure that she will no doubt receive a packing list from her battalion in the near future, I was wondering if there may be some updated collective wisdom on what to be sure to bring that may not be on the official list - such things as moleskin, quality socks and ...

Thanks!

Moleskin, quality socks, and good running shoes are always useful, but this isn't the academy either. They will send her an email or letter on what she should bring to freshman orientation, if her unit has one. Anything else can be addressed later, or she can even pick up herself.

So she won't receive a "packing list" so to say, unless like stated above she has an orientation. I would agree with good socks and running shoes, I like to use fox river for boot socks and asics for running shoes. You could also get a durable watch. Down the line think of getting a good pair of boots, ask other cadets and cadre for input. The first 2 years of ROTC I wouldn't drop a ton of money on extra gear until MSIII year.
