Pakistan Relief

Gotta love it. We "BORROW": (to take or obtain with the promise to return the same or an equivalent: some times with accrued interest); "X" billions of dollars from China. Which we then "GIVE": (to present voluntarily and without expecting compensation; bestow); to Pakistan because they had a flood. Sniff Sniff.

At one time, we use to be a world power. If not, "THE WORLD" power. Then, we evolved into being the world's "Police Force". And now, we've been relegated to being the world's "Charity Source".

Conservative believes in "Balance of Power". Balance the strength between 2 or more forces, so that offensive strikes become a non-choice because of no possible gain.

Liberal believes in "Balance of Economics". Balance the economy and wealth of 2 or more people. If you can't raise the level of the lower one, then take from the other and give to the lower one.

Sorry, but our country should not sacrifice itself for other nations. We need to feed our own hungry; save our own children; secure our own borders; and strengthen our own economy before helping others and making ourselves poorer and weaker. India, Saudi, Iran, etc... can contribute and help Pakistan. Then again, we are training Pakistanis to do IT work, so we can outsource work to them. Go figure.

A great book to read is "The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers" by Paul Kennedy. It details the squandering of treasure by the powers of history. First as Military Superpowers and then as nations who oversteped into policeman of the world and then military "over-strech". Although it ends in 2000 he does project his theory into the 21st century.
