As a further clarification, it can take a little while for the money to process after contracting, which also takes some time. My son as been at school for 3 weeks now, and just signed his contracting paperwork. We were also told that AROTC does not cover Program Fees, which is a small amount charged by the different classes they are taking, like Engineering program fees, Business program fees etc, it's in the $350 range this semester. It doesn't quite make sense to me, but that's how it is I guess...He's not expecting his Stipend until sometime in October, hopefully not later, and in the meantime the Finance Office is still waiting for payment, but we have been told they would be notified it was coming by AROTC.

Our experience is if the fee is on the tuition bill Army will pay it. They pay several weeks into the next semester. The stipend pays on time, the 1st and 15th. They even prorated my son's first check for the semester.
You just have to make communication with your finance/bursar office that a thrid party, AROTC is paying the bill.

AFROTC was very smooth. The scholarship showed up on my son's school account one day before class started.

DS was the only one in his platoon on scholarship. He can be a worrier at times. He would see the bill from the college and screenshot it to his mom. I would just say "they know they will get their money."

This year there are 5-6 scholarships and they all ask him WHEN WHEN. From what I remember it was around October.

I check the bank we just got a notice (joint owner) he is getting his book and regular monthly stipend on the 15th.

I'm the worrier here, haha! The finance office reassured me it will all be fine! Thanks for the feedback, October is when he's expecting his first stipend. Is the stipend split into 2 payments? I know he'll be getting back pay. Also, I think he said they get the stipend 10 months out of the year? Do you happen to know which months are excluded? Thanks!

The stipend is paid throughout the academic year, so no stipend in the summers. But in the summers, of course, they will get training pay

I don't remember (May) when it stops exactly, but like Kinnem said it's only for the Academic year. Seems like this year maybe with DS being in the system his stipends are coming faster

The Book and regular 1/2 monthly stipend is hitting his account tomorrow. So, your should see it soon. He got 1/2 of August already.

For sure though the finance office knows the money is coming. They welcome that government check. ;-)
