I took it in April 2010, so I should be good to April 2012, right?

Would I need to retake it halfway through sophomore year, or am I good as a contracted cadet by then?

You should be good to go because you will be under contract at that point.

They may require a mini-physical during your spring soph yr for summer training. This typically is just to make sure you have all of your shots are up to date and you are good to go for summer training.

I tell you that because it comes down with a quick turn around time and if you are far from home with no car, it can be a hassle to get to a doc. For example, our DS needed the swine flu shot and a tetanus booster. He found out with a 2 week turn around, that meant I had to find a doc up there and get him in while he tried to balance school and interning on Capitol Hill with their available apptmts.

That is one of the big draw backs compared to an SA, because SA's have been cleared for Dodmerb purposes.

NCMOM is correct there are alot of variables when it comes to the paying out of the scholarship. Most have to do with the actual school's billing cycle and the branch. Our DS is contracted, but his scholarship money does not show up until Oct.1 for billing purposes, I am ONLY guesstimating, but I am guessing that is because the fiscal yr starts Oct 1. The AFROTC does make you pay out first for books, you must prove to them that you bought them, this is not an extra paycheck, instead it is a reimbursement up to 900 a yr.
