Also...an early report time is a blessing in disguise. Allows more time throughout the day for unpacking the supplies plebe receives into his/her new room. NAPsters and priors report a day early, so having a few of them in your company is helpful: they can show how to fold, make bed, etc. Once the plebes get into their whiteworks (think Popeye's sailor suit), which occurs before they get out of Alumni Hall, a helpful and knowledgeable NAPster will be the first to use a Tide pen on them!
Anyway, fret not over the early times. Your day will go smoother and you will be unpacked before swearing-in ceremony.
Son's report time was 6 or 6:30 am, a local television crew was on hand. As he walked in, they filmed him, asking what he was expecting. The detailers near the door to Alumni Hall said "Hurry up and get in here, Hollywood!" Also on hand are chaplains passing out kleenex to parents, and alumni/parent group members serving coffee.
Also, a point of information: Members of the Class of 1964 will be on hand I-Day. Parents will get to visit with them at lunch on the parade field and you will see them occupying a place of honor at swearing in. They will interact with your class several times through their USNA years.
