I am a candidate for the West Point class of 2013, and I had 2 congressional interviews in early December. One board told me they would try to notify me by Christmas of a nomination. The other told me they would contact me a week after the interview. I haven't been contacted by anyone. I'm starting to accept the fact that I probably wasn't nominated. Is a nomination required for USMAPS?

After the first of the year, when the offices of those MOCs are open, why don't you call and ask them if they have a decision. Typically, you receive notification whether you are nominated or not. My son got letters from the ones he got them from and also from the ones he did not. It's really ok to call...they will not remove you from the list just for asking!

No nomination is required to enter USMAPS but you do need one to enter the SA the next year.
