Plebe Candidate First Phone call home today

1st Phone call

Just received that call. My son is in the 101 and for some reason......somehow......to the bewilderment of his family.......he sounds better on the phone now than when he was at home or on vacation! Man, I think he's lov'n this stuff. :thumb: In keeping with the "team" attitude I told him to do everything in his power to encourage others who may be 2nd guessing NOT to give up or quit. I hope we can all send that message!
 
Just got our call. DS sounded good. couldn't really "talk". DI was making him call us "sir" and "ma'am", which drove his mother nuts. The call lasted 5:04 but seemed like about a minute.
 
Yes, we just got a call from our DS too (101) asked us if we sent cookies yet...

He sounded a little horse, but happy and loved the water activites today:thumb:
 
We had about 3 minutes at about 5:45pm tonight. It was short, but absolutely wonderful to hear his voice. He sounded good - happy & strong, but admits to missing us and anxious for parent's weekend.

So far no call back home from DS in 301. And since I have saw the companies form on on the grinder some ten minutes ago and march off, am I safe to assue that if there has been no call as of 7 pm eastern time, it will not happen?
 
Never assume anything! Good luck trying to stay calm as you wait it out.

Son is in 201. Still waiting patiently.

Just got our call @ 7:05 from our daughter in platoon 201 so don't give up yet! She sounded upbeat, received her cookies and ate some too! :thumb:
 
Got a call from a discouraged plebe

Our call came in this afternoon. Our son is in the clinic with an injury. They let him talk for 17 minutes. He is not in good spirits. I'm not sure what to do.
 
Got our call from our DS..........sounded discouraged and exhausted!!!! Tried our best to tell him to take one day at a time , it will be over soon. Think he's in Company# 1 but not sure. How do you find out, and can cookies be sent now??? I thought you had to wait until after indoc. Anybody know what the rules are?

Possibly send an upbeat gell well card. I have read on this forum that our PC's are in good hands and will be well taken care of. I have been holding on to that. Our son is not injuried but it is a strange time for us to not have him home. He did sound ok on the phone but I did hear a pause in his voice 2 times and when time to go.
 
Just got mine from my DS in 202! Sounds fantastic...very upbeat! They were on the water. Keep the faith...:biggrin:

Very Exciting!!! He seems very upbeat on the video. He will do fine! :thumb:
 
Just spoke to our son in 201. Sounded discouraged. Said food would help. Requested we send enough food for 40.
 
This is such a hard time for parents- and for the kids who are feeling overwhelmed. Your posts brought tears to my eyes with the memories from last summer and our waits for calls and then, flat, exhausted kids on the other end when they did call.
Remember they can do this, they are in good hands, and it will be parents weekend before you know it... I promise! And then Thanksgiving and Christmas... and when they are recognized, you will be saying to the other parents with whom you have formed friendships because your kids are friends, "can you believe we made it to recognition? it seems like yesterday that we were waiting for phone calls and feeling and acting a little bit C-R-A-Z-Y!"

GO 2014.. the second greatest class at KP :thumb:(can't wait to see the responses to that comment. :yllol:)
