Academy releases name of midshipman who died
The Naval Academy has identified a midshipman who died this week as 19-year-old Kristen Dickmann of Kennett Square, Pa.
Dickmann, in her first year at the academy, was found by two roommates late Monday morning unconscious and not breathing in her bed at the academy's Bancroft Hall. She was pronounced dead about 12:45 p.m. Monday at Anne Arundel County Medical Center, the academy said in a news release.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the cause of her death. Foul play is not suspected, the academy said.
Dickmann played on the academy's women's volleyball team and recently declared physics as her major, the academy said.
