Plebe Summer CO 27' (2023)

Same thing when I was a plebe and also what I experienced during my son's plebe parents weekend.

We feel fairly lucky that the four weddings we attended (and DH sword arched for) the week after graduation are ALL still together 20+ years later. But that said we know far more that have split through this lifestyle for all the reasons. But yes dating a mid while on the Yard is a very different experience than marrying the military! There should be a class.… Sure made for some fun people watching on the weekends! Growing up in this life I swore it off. That failed when my parents for lack of a better word ‘pimped me out’🤦‍♀️ just to see what would happen and those SDBs came wandering by, sigh. We waited a couple years though because I still had another year of school (locally) and my dad said no degree, no wedding. Fair enough. It’s been an interesting ride!

No sleep with mine! He actually had been SIQ prior to PPW, so was all rested and ready to go. I fact, we weren’t even sure if he would be released to us. Didn’t know until we saw the whites of his eyes 👀 at noon formation. While it’s rare? It CAN happen.

As with everything, there is no one single right answer. Be open to any and everything!

All part of the folklore that is our family history with this place. The funny part was after exchanging some awkward emails, we planned to first meet at the front of Dahlgren after a football game. Well the front of Dahlgren in my dad’s day faced the Supe’s house, where he deposited me and three other 18 year old girls for this blind date to the homecoming dance🤦‍♀️ (can’t make this up) was no longer the front. So it took a hot minute to find the right group of mids but we sure attracted enough attention waiting, so had options 😆. 24 years later took a photo with our son in that parking lot BEHIND Dahlgren before he went in the doors for NASS…. all thanks to an SDB and my bold parents lol.

It's hard to change "The Front End" of Dahlgren Hall due to the configuration of the mezzanine, "grand" staircase , etc.
Also, the entire lineup of buildings, Luce, Mac "D", Mother B, Dahlgren and Ward all have their main entrance on the same side.

As far as I know “front end” of Bancroft, Dahlgren, MacD, all face Stribling way.

Probably so but apparently sometime between the early 60s and the late 90s what the mids referred to it as changed. This comes up at family dinners on occasion!

I know that through the mid to late 70's, the "Front" was the end where Drydock and the stairs were located.
Same thing in the late 00's

I’m going to guess, and just a guess, before 9/11 and before they put the barricades across the road in front of King Hall, you could drive thru back there by 7th and 8th wing and maybe that has something to do with it. But I’d have to ask my husband why they referred to that side as the front for a while there.

Funny. I picked up a sponsor mid to the 8th Wing loading dock area and asked them if she thought that was the back or front of Dahlgren as we drive by. She looked at me oddly and said “back door.”

I smell angels dancing n pinheads…
 
Does anyone know if you can bring OTC antihistamines when reporting for Plebe Summer? Sounds like that is allowed for BCT/Air Force but it looks like nothing may be allowed OTC for Plebe Summer - if anyone has any experience with plebes bringing OTC antihistamines would be interested.

Bancroft Medical will give them to you free of charge when you need them.
