Hello! I am completing my Army ROTC application, and I just had my SAT score and transcript approved in the file upload section, so does that mean that I could move onto the PMS interview. I didn't get that message about the 5 nearest PMS around me, but can I still move on and contact a PMS near me individually? It still says I'm only eligible, not an interviewee status, but since I got my SAT score and Transcript approved I could move on? Thank you for anyone who can help me!

Edit: I also did not do my PFA (doing it in 2 days), so is that the reason why I'm not an interviewee yet?

Taken from Duke's Blue Devil Eagle Battalion official site: Army ROTC Application is the Professor of Military Science (PMS) Interview where the student is interviewed directly by an acting PMS or their representative. The PMS Interview should be the last thing that a student completes in the application process, so before you schedule an interview, make sure that you’ve completed your portion of the application (including the fitness score being uploaded and processed, all transcripts, LORs, etc.).

Then, you can take the initiative to contact the unit you wish to interview at to request and schedule an interview. Note - this does not need to be at your dream school. My DS called his #1, school, 700 miles away, and requested a PMS interview, they told him to just do the interview locally which was at a school he did not apply to. He did, and received a 4 year scholarship.
Also, my DS got pushback from one local school who when they learned he wasn't applying there, turned him away, and told him to go to the school he wanted for the interview. This isn't policy, but I just recommend if this happens to you just move on and find another local school No sense forcing an interview on someone who doesn't want to give one- this interview eval is just critical to your scholarship chances.

Good luck, dress well for the interview, and thanks for your willingness to serve.

That wasn’t very nice!

DS interviewed with a local PMS for his AROTC scholarship (which was a plan d school). The guy was over the top nice and supportive of DS and said he was disappointed that he would not have him in his battalion. He told DS he believed he would get his SA appointment and told him if he ever needed anything to call him.
I also saw the PMS at an all Academy day event and he even reached out to me with support.
Most of these people will be overall supportive to candidates, @Herman_Snerd sadly had to deal with a bad apple.

Thanks @shock-n-awe. Overall my DS had a terrific experience in applying for Army, Navy, and Air Force scholarships. Also great interactions with his top 3 units in each branch - shadowing, visiting, working out with the units for PT, sitting in on their labs, etc. I can't rave enough. Also one school really went to bat for him, with the PMS hand delivering a 3 page note to the President of the University that brought me to tears as his Dad. 2 days later his wait-list was turned into an acceptance.

The only downsides were the aforementioned blowoff in Army for the PMS interview, and a Navy NROTC recruiter who was, well, simply, terrible. I mean losing paperwork, taking months to process his full application. But it all worked out after my DS hounded him daily for months, and again nothing but smiles and gratitude for those who helped him evaluate his candidacy or learn about these programs. For the candidates, I just recommend you keep at it, politely, to work out any application challenges - small sacrifices to have the option to live your dream.

Should be an auto-response to every thread asking if xROTC unit can help with admissions.

For his AROTC interview, my DS reached out to his #1 which is 3 hours away. He did this a week ago. No response. Now he's asking me what to do. Send the email again? It's been a week. Forget it and go to a school a half hour away that is not on his list. I don't know what to tell him.

DS should try a second time with #1....this time phone the Army ROTC office and speak to a human being. (Google the ROTC cadre website for the phone numbers). If this is still met with zero response, then he should try the nearby school.

Everyone is busy.... (heck, I can't get to all of my OWN emails.)

+1 to AROTC-dad. It's early in the Fall semester. I'm sure units are focused on getting up and running. I'm sure they also prioritze duties and given where we are at in the scholarship cycle, this may not rise to the top. Try again. See if you can get hold of the ROO.

Should my PMS Interview apparently depend on my GPA? I had a call with my PMS Interviewer, and he said that with my 3.30 GPA, I'd be on the 3 board, which is in March... I've very conflicted about this? I'd also have to travel 3 hours for my interview!!!

@MichaelT2022 - since I know a little more about your application, you definitely DO NOT need to submit for the 1st Board. You are actively working to improve your PFT and standardized test scores so you need to wait until later boards to give yourself the best chance for success. So, hold off on registering for your PMS interview. Shoot me another PM and we can talk offline if needed.

As far as I know, your GPA has no influence on when your application is reviewed and scored. However, GPA probably has some influence on when you might be awarded a scholarship, which really relies on what your overall score is.
