Poop: (n.) ORIGIN: Early Cadet-ish - def. Information every Cadet should know

Did you guys know that along with all of the honorable graduates and leaders of West Point, and not so honorable *cough Benedict Arnold cough*, two of them became President of the United States? They were Pres. Grant and Pres. Eisenhower.

I heard they had 3 grads that became president.

Did you guys know that West Point is the oldest still active military post in the country? West Point officially became a 'school' in 1802, but was around starting in 1778.

So much history at this place. Something none of the other academies can compete with.

What else do you all know?

When General MacArthur was Superintendent, he would often invite Firsties over to his house for dinner. One evening after dinner, he showed them a room which was identical to a cadet's room. He told them he would sleep on the same bed as they do because "to be able to lead men, you have to experience what it is like for them."

A few days or hours later(not entirely sure), General MacArthur noticed his China dinnerware had been stolen. For a week, no cadet confessed to who had taken the China. By this time, an official investigation had been started. Finally, someone sent MacArthur a message asking, "Sir, how have you been able to sleep the past week, especially with China in the bed you showed us?"

D. Robinson, that's quite the unique story! I'll bet the Corps laughed about that one for a while.

I was told by a West Point grad that the tradition of class rings was started at the Academy in 1835. The gold left over from that class' rings was then melted into the new gold for the next class rings. And so on and so forth. So essentially, the ring that one would receive on Ring Weekend today would most likely contain at least one atom of gold from 1835.
